Bator Feliks Jan

Bator, Feliks Jan, son of Józef and Eleonora née Galewska, born on March 17, 1920, in Łódź. Father was a farmer from the Tuszyn area

Completed 7 grades of primary school. By trade, a locksmith. Before the war, he worked as a laborer in a factory in Łódź, where he lived in the Chojny district (then and until 1946, a rural gmina).

In May 1940, he was sent for agricultural labor to Germany in the Nünstenburg district (East Prussia, as stated in the UB document, since there was no such city in East Prussia, it is likely that Insterburg – Polish Wystruć, currently Cherniakhovsk – is meant). For his political activities, he was sent to the Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg camp, where he stayed for 4 years and 6 months.

In Lübeck, Germany, where he found himself after being released from the camp, he was a member of the editorial board of Zadruga publications issued in that country - "Arkona", "Zaranie" (1945).

He became the editor of the publication "Kuźnia", which was issued in 1946 in Lübeck by the Association of Polish Professional Organizations. He then became the editor of the publication "W drodze", which was supposed to be a continuation of "Kuźnia". Only one issue was published - October 1946

He returned to the country in the fall of 1946 and settled in Łódź. He worked as a welder at PZPB No. 4, and later as a lathe operator at PPBZ.

Married to Zofia Borkiewicz.
