Olczyk Edward

Olczyk Edward, son of Władysław and Apolonia née Robeszewska, born May 28, 1915 in Zgierz.

He lived in Łódź where he worked as an electrician, and there he met Bogusław Stępiński. After completing his military service in May 1938 (he held the rank of corporal), he reestablished contact with Stępiński, joining the Zadruga group led by him in Łódź, where he participated in regular meetings of this group until the outbreak of war. At that time, he identified himself as a sympathizer of "Zadruga".

In 1940, he was deported to forced labor in Germany, working in Wismar (Mecklenburg). In early May 1945, after liberation, he reached Lübeck, where that month he established contact with Stępiński and his circle – mainly former prisoners of German camps.

He collaborated there on publishing (under the general direction of B. Stępiński) periodicals promoting the ideas of "Zadruga" - "Arkona", "Zaranie", and "Kuźnia". He was an employee of the "Zrzeszenie Polskich Organizacji Zawodowych" (Association of Polish Professional Organizations), which published "Kuźnia" (Stępiński was its second vice-president in Lübeck from spring 1946 and head of their Executive Department).

He returned to the country in September 1946 and settled in Łódź. In November 1946, he joined the PPR. For a short time, he was the deputy commander of the ORMO in Zgierz. He worked at the Sanitary Installation and Water Equipment Plant in Łódź.

In 1947, he participated in one of the meetings of the Zadruga circle in Łódź organized by Bogusław Stępiński with the participation of, among others, Zenon Marciniak, Zbigniew Kucharski and Bolesław Stępiński (Bogusław's brother).

In 1951, he was interrogated in Łódź in connection with the trial of Jan Stachniuk and his associates, declaring loyalty to the system. He was supposed to be investigated by the WUBP in Łódź regarding cooperation with a foreign intelligence service, materials probably did not survive.
