Statement on the draft law on civil unions

Association for Tradition and Culture "Niklot" expresses strong protest against the formal and legal equality of homosexual unions and marriages.

We support our position by arguing that such a solution would significantly diminish the status of the traditional family model, which is the basic social cell of the Polish Nation. This traditional model, based on the union of a woman and a man, enables the birth of offspring and, consequently, the continuation of the nation's existence.

There is a danger that this law may only be a stage on the way to the possibility of same-sex couples adopting children. As a result, the procreative and educational functions of the natural family, as a union of a woman, a man, and their offspring, would clearly weaken.

Such a law may cause a revaluation of moral norms and values, as for the average person, legal norms to a significant extent shape and sanction attitudes and patterns of behavior.
