Remiszewski Ryszard "Jarobój"
Remiszewski Ryszard "Jarobój"
Born July 7, 1921, son of Adam and Aleksandra. Lived in Warsaw, Mokotów (Sadyba).
At an unspecified time during the German occupation, he became associated with the Zadruga circle, likely through Teodor Jakubowski and Kazimierz Majewski.
At the same time, he was a soldier in the Home Army. The kayak rental hut he ran near Lake Czerniakowskie served as an AK contact point.
In March 1943, his acquaintance Henryk Rybka proposed to him participation in the liquidation of the Zadruga activists in Warsaw (mentioning Jan Stachniuk and Ludwik Gościński, Teodor Jakubowski, Tadeusz Jędrzejewski, and Józef Kowalczyk by name). He motivated this intention with a reward that they were to receive from an unspecified Catholic organization. Remiszewski informed Jakubowski about it, and together they brought Henryk Rybka to the forests near Podkowa Leśna, where, after confirming the authenticity of his plan, Jakubowski eliminated Rybka with an escort consisting of Remiszewski, Chwalbogowski Zbigniew, and Majewski Kazimierz.
During the Warsaw Uprising, Remiszewski fought as a senior private in Batalion AK "Oaza," 3rd Company. He participated in the fighting in Wilanów on August 18-19. On September 2, at Sadyba (Okrężna Street), he was the deputy platoon leader. Facing a German assault, he ordered the unarmed messengers to retreat and remove their armbands, while he remained in position. He most likely perished on September 2, 1944, in Sadyba or was killed after being captured. The burial place is unknown, and the body was not found during the post-war exhumation, which could have been the reason for speculations about his fate.
By order of the AK commander, 2 X was posthumously decorated with the MC.
Decorated posthumously with the Warsaw Uprising Cross.
Although there was another insurgent with the same name, he is excluded from actions in 1943 due to his young age (born 1928). Additionally, Kazimierz Majewski claimed that Remiszewski was from Mokotów and fought there, and Sadyba is also part of Mokotów administratively throughout the entire PRL period. Moreover, there was only one person with that last name in the "Oaza" battalion. The characteristic Slavic pseudonym, consistent with the custom of Zadruga, also speaks in favor of identifying him with the Zadruga member from Jakubowski's account.
